GMRS Frequencies and Channels:
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has assigned 30 frequency channels
for the General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) between 462 MHz and 467 MHz.
Within this range, there are 16 major frequencies and 14 interstitial channels.
Eight primary channels operate at 462 MHz and are used for simple communications
or repeater outputs by licensed operators.
The other eight major channels operate at 467 MHz and are ideal for
GMRS repeater inputs. Licensed GMRS operators can utilize the repeater input
frequencies specific to GMRS. On the 16 primary channels, GMRS operators can
transmit at up to 50 watts of power output, although most users typically
use 1 to 5 watts1.
Commonly Used GMRS Channels:
The GMRS bandwidth includes 22 channels that are also shared with the
Family Radio Service (FRS). Additionally, there are eight additional repeater
channels exclusively available to licensed GMRS operators.
These frequencies are pre-programmed and unchangeable due to FCC requirements.
Below are charts for both GMRS simplex frequencies and GMRS repeater frequencies:
Remember many unlicensed users exist on GMRS and legaly run 5 watts. Running a low power node may work
in some areas but not in others. This is not HAM FRS users dont care that you have a license..
NOTE: Repeater inputs R1 & R2 are used by non USA Cruse ships. They are to be turned off in port but many dont,
beware of beacons and traffic on these channels near ports.
